No More Foreign Medical Trips for President Buhari, Senate Warns State House Officials

The Senate on Thursday issued a robust warning to State House Officials that henceforth, President Muhammadu Buhari from embarking on foreign trips for medical attention.

In response to the Senate, rather than allow President Buhari to jet out to seek medical attention and remedy, the federal government and statehouse officers ought to this year, put the State House Clinic to ensure that such purposes.

The warning was given by Senator Danjuma La’ah, Peoples Democratic Occasion, PDP, Kaduna South led Senate Committee on Federal Character and Intergovernmental Affairs when the State House Permanent Secretary, Tijani Umar, appeared earlier than the panel to defend his 2021 budget estimates.

In its presentation, the State House official gave a budget of N19.7bnfor 2021, out of which N1.3bn was proposed for the State Home Clinic.

In his response to the price range estimates, the Chairman of the Senate panel, Senator Danjuma La’ah defined that although the committee would approve the price range for the State House Clinic, however that President and other prime officers of his government ought to not be flown overseas for medical remedy anymore.

Talking with Journalists after defending his budget, the Permanent Secretary promised to place crucial arrangements in place to fulfill to medical needs of the President and other prime officials as soon as the budget was approved.
