Ruling All Progressives Congress on Friday slammed the Peoples Democratic Party for not being a worthy opposition.

APC Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, acknowledged this on Friday while featuring on Channels Tv’s Politics Today programme.

The PUNCH had earlier reported that some APC chieftains visited the Abuja residence of former President Goodluck Jonathan last Friday.

The visit by the APC chieftains to Jonathan, who contested in the 2011 and 2015 presidential elections on the platform of the PDP, raised the stakes in permutations for the 2023 general elections.

Jonathan had lost his re-election bid to Buhari in 2015 and conceded defeat, thereby ensuring a easy transition of power.

The previous Bayelsa State governor has additionally been active in his position as Special Envoy of the Economic Community of West African States.

The PDP had mentioned the APC was ‘determined’ by the visit of its party bigwigs to the ex-president on his 63rd birthday.

However reacting on Friday night, Nabena mentioned, “We aren’t determined. Goodluck Jonathan has been working for this government, he has been going to all African countries. If he isn’t a progressive person, he won’t have been working for this government.”

The PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Diran Odeyemi, who also spoke on the programme, however, mentioned there was nothing progressive about the APC.

He mentioned the APC has failed in all vital aspects of governance and ‘many’ of the governors of the ruling occasion had been set to hitch the PDP.
