Aminu Tambuwal, chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, has invited Godwin Emiefele, governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, to a virtual meeting on Thursday, the 19th of January 2022 at 9 pm.
In issuing the invitation, Nigeria Governors Forum director-general, Asishana Bayo Okauru said the agenda would focus on the recent redesign of the Naira notes by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Nigeria’s Apex Bank announced the initial decision of the CBN to redesign the Naira note on October 26, 2022, and Nigerians were urged not to wait until January 31, 2023, to obtain the new notes.
According to the statement, the agenda for the virtual meeting is titled: “The Economic and Security implications of naira redesign and withdrawal policy,” and it has been lingering for some time.
“The discussion promises to foster participation and dialogue between various stakeholders including governments and civil society organisations to come out with a solution to the lingering issue.”
