The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in-charge of Department of ICT and the supervisory DIG of South East geo-political zone, DIG Celestine Okoye, has disclosed that Enugu State could be very calm and peaceable.
DIG Okoye, who made the disclosure when he visited Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on the Authorities House, Enugu, appealed to youths of the state to proceed to embrace peace, urging them to not enable “miscreants destroy what your fathers and forefathers labored and suffered for”.
The Police DIG revealed that those that brought on mayhem in Enugu weren’t from the state.
He, subsequently, charged Enugu youths to maintain their eyes open and be certain that miscreants don’t trigger additional mayhem within the state.

Whereas asking parents to advise their wards to desist from acts of violence and criminality, as “Enugu could be very calm”, the DIG who was accompanied by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmad Abdurrahman, additional appealed to residents of the state to remain peaceful and law-abiding.
In his phrases: “I’m happy with this state (Enugu). Enugu State has made me proud and completely satisfied. The reason being that as I entered Enugu we hovered round and I spotted that the state is very calm.
“I’m also completely satisfied that the youth of Enugu State rose; His Excellency called them and so they answered instantly. So I name on the remainder of our people who they need to pay attention and let’s move ahead.
“If you are approaching a police station with the intention to set it ablaze, your arson is known and the punishment is understood. You can’t carry a gun and you are approaching somebody that’s holding gun now and he simply allows you to kill him. It isn’t potential; he should defend himself.
“So please be very peaceful. I’m begging all people. We all know we’re all Igbos and we now have our personal delight. Allow us to maintain our heads excessive, in order that we don’t find yourself destroying what we now have long built and suffered for. May God bless Enugu State.”
