chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Raymond Dokpesi, has suggested Ndigbo within the South-East to support Atiku Abubakar’s 2023 presidential election.
Mr Dokpesi, a PDP Board of Trustees member, made it clear on Monday in Umuahia, while addressing the leadership of Abia PDP on why the zone must rally round Mr Abubakar.
Mr Dokpesi mentioned that if Atiku is elected, he will rule for a tenor and thereafter pave way for an Igboman to succeed him.
He mentioned that the Igbos have the capacity to rule Nigeria and Atiku being the president would help a hand realise the agitation, for which he pledged to stake his life.

He mentioned that due to the death of President Musa Yar’Adua, it was once expedient for PDP’s presidential flag bearer to return to the north to ensure that the one-term remaining is completed.
He argued that the north had but to finish its eight-year tenure in step with PDP zoning association, therefore the will for Mr Abubakar to be given the presidential ticket.
Mr Dokpesi mentioned that for the avoidance of doubt and worry of conceivable betrayal, the settlement for Mr Abubakar to run one time period and handover to the South-East can be documented in “black-and-white”.
In response, the Abia PDP chairman, Allwell Asiforo, said the chapter would take the message home and make its position known at the appropriate time.
