The Peoples Democratic Party has stated that the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to withdraw his scheduled visit to the National Assembly is disgraceful.
The PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, stated this, noting that it was a sheer disappointment for a retired general of the Nigerian Army to be “afraid” to handle the parliament on the problem of insecurity bedeviling the nation.
Secondus disclosed this at a media briefing to celebrate his third year in office, in Abuja, on Thursday, Punch reports.
Whereas discussing the party’s zoning association in 2023, the party chairman stated it was too early to debate that because the Governor Bala Mohammed-led committee was still reviewing points responsible for PDP’s 2019 electoral defeat.
Secondus stated, “This back and forth from the President on a vital challenge as safety that’s overwhelming our nation underscores our place as an opposition party that no person is in charge and that it is a broken government.

“Disregarding the nation’s parliament is disregarding the Nigerian individuals as a result of they’re representatives of the people. The worrisome reality is that the President both don’t know what is occurring or does know what to do; in any other case, he shouldn’t be afraid to face the people.”
On the problem of zoning, he stated, “We won’t be speaking of zoning when we have not appraised how we fared in the final election. Moreover, the state of the nation at the moment is such that politics or something concerning 2023, which is three years away, ought to take backstage. Nigeria is in a comatose state at the moment the place APC introduced it, that needs to be our concern now.”
When contacted, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Yekini Nabana stated, “Our party aligns with the place of the Attorney General of the Federation on the problem of the House invitation to Mr President.
“The PDP ought to know that Nigerians have rejected and will hold rejecting the PDP because they now know the difference between 16 years of waste and corruption and the 5 years of purposeful management by the Muhammadu Buhari-led APC government.”
