The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday plead with #EndSARS protesters to embrace peace and cease the protest in the interest of the nation.
The Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee, Mai Mala-Buni, made the plea in an announcement in Damaturu, Yobe State.
He mentioned the party recognised the inalienable right of the citizens to demand for change of any policy that trampled on their liberty and freedom, including that demand must be peaceable and inside the ambit of the regulation.
He stated: “We acknowledge the peaceful commencement of the protest, till it turned violent and disorderly as hoodlums regrettably seized the chance of the protest and nearly took over.
“It’s crucial for the youths to extricate themselves from the actions of criminal elements who’ve taken over the protest and perpetrating violence, destruction of property and attacking harmless Nigerians.”

Buni, who is also the governor of Yobe State, stated the party also condoled with the families of policemen and other Nigerians who lost their family members and property during the carnage, and prayed for God to offer them the fortitude to bear the loss.
He added that the party welcomed complete reforms together with the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and the review of salaries of the Nigerian police as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Buni urged politicians to keep away from using the protest to attain political points.
