Adesina knocks UK Lawmaker over allegation against Gowon

President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr. Akinwumi Adesina has condemned an allegation leveled towards a former Nigerian Head of State, Yakubu Gowon by a UK lawmaker.

This news platform earlier reported that Conservative MP Tom Tugendhat on Monday alleged that the previous Nigerian chief stole half of Nigeria’s Central Bank and kept the loot in London. He made the allegation throughout a parliamentary debate on a petition searching for that the UK authorities impose sanctions on Nigerian officials concerned within the abuse of the rights of the #EndSARS protesters.

However reacting to the allegation by way of his Twitter page on Thursday, Adesina, who was the previous Minister of Agriculture, described the allegation leveled towards Gowon as misinformation. He additionally warned Nigerians towards misinformation and pretend news which he mentioned might endanger lives.

Adesina noted that Gowon is a man of impeccable integrity, nice honour, decency, honesty, wonderful simplicity and humility. Based on Adesina, the previous Nigerian leader couldn’t have stolen half of Nigeria’s Central Financial institution as claimed by Tugendhat.

He wrote: “Watch out of misinformation! H.E. Basic Yakubu Gowon, Nigeria’s former Head of State, is a person of nice honour, decency, honesty, wonderful simplicity, humility and integrity. I do know him. An ideal and admirable elder statesman of Nigeria. His honesty and integrity are impeccable.”
