BREAKING: Former Ghana President, Jerry Rawlings is dead

Former President of Ghana, Jerry Rawlings, is dead.

He died on Thursday at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Born on June 22, 1947, the previous military chief ruled from 1981 to 2001.

Rawlings led a navy junta till 1992, after which served two phrases because the elected President.

He resigned from the military in 1992 and based the Nationwide Democratic Congress (NDC).

He was the primary President of the Fourth Republic and was re-elected in 1996 for another 4 years.

After his tenure, Rawlings endorsed his vice-president John Atta Mills as presidential candidate in 2000.
